Gene started his career in the luggage business at 18 years old in a Beverly Hills, California luggage store. He’s been in baggage ever since! He’s learned the luggage and travelware business over years of work in the field. This on the job training provided him with an opportunity to learn all aspects of the luggage and travelware business. Gene met a woman named Joyce at a luggage store where they both were employed. Six years later, they were married and continued to work together for another 5 years until they opened their own store.

Joyce started as a sales associate in the luggage business the year she moved to California in 1981 and gained her significant knowledge about the industry over years of work just as Gene did. In 1992, she was voted one of America’s top 10 luggage sales people by “Travelware Magazine,” a prominent trade publication.

In 2001, Gene and Joyce opened Gene’s Luggage on Cinema Drive in Valencia, California. Their goal was to carry top luggage brands, travel accessories, and gift items at great prices.
